The Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Wichita Fire Department, Sedgwick County Emergency Management, Sedgwick County Fire District 1, Sedgwick County EMS, Maize Police Department, Derby Police Department, FBI, ATF, Wichita State University, and Via Christi, along with support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will conduct a full-scale joint training exercise on Tuesday, March 11th. The exercise is taking place at Century II, 255 W. Douglas Ave., from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This training event is not open to the public.

Wichita Police say residents and businesses in the area may notice increased activity, including numerous law enforcement and public safety vehicles. The public is advised that this is solely a training exercise and there is no cause for alarm.

The exercise aims to enhance preparedness and response capabilities for potential critical incidents. It will offer realistic training for law enforcement, public safety officials, and community stakeholders on effectively managing and responding to such incidents. Additionally, the exercise will focus on improving staff coordination and validating emergency response operations and post-incident management planning.
