Board recommends banning commercial sale of cats and dogs in Wichita

The Wichita Animal Control Advisory Board voted to recommend the drafting of an ordinance banning the commercial sale of cats and dogs in the city limits.

The vote was 4 - 3.

Supporters of the ban say commercial stores get their animals from puppy mills.  However, opponents say the stores only work with legitimate breeders.

The recommendation now goes to the Wichita City Council for approval.
