The Wichita Board of Education met Monday night to vote on the proposed closures of six schools.
KSN News reports the BOE voted 5-2 to pass Recommendation 1 – accepting the proposal to close Clark, Cleaveland, Park, Payne, Hadley and Jardine. It is an effort to cut a minimum of $16 million.
Stan Reeser, Diane Albert, Kathy Bond, Julie Hedrick and Hazel Stabler voted yes, with Melody-McCray Miller and Ngoc Vuong voting no.
The BOE voted 6-0 to pass Recommendation 2 – boundary adjustments.
