The Wichita City Council approved using $685,000 in ARPA funding for a temporary winter homeless shelter. The uniramous vote came after members of the North East neighborhood expressed objections to the shelter in their area.
The shelter will likely be open by late November or early December and remain open until March 31. A new location is expected to be designated for next year.
