The Wichita City Council sat down for a workshop Tuesday, discussing several topics during that meeting.
The council discussed their state and federal legislative agendas, including issues like homelessness and passenger rail service. The city hopes to receive $2.4 million in federal funding for improvements at Kellogg and Eisenhower Parkway. The funding for that project is currently earmarked in an appropriations bill in the U.S. Senate.
The council also learned about the positive economic impact of the city's cultural arts.
Randy Cohen, with Americans for the Arts, told the council the local cultural arts scene is a $184 million industry, which supports over 2900 jobs in a wide range of industries.
The council also heard a report on the impact of the city's ARPA funding on local businesses and got an early look at the 2025 budget process.
