Members of the Wichita city council recently traveled to Topeka, meeting with members of the Legislature that represent south-central Kansas. Appearing on Woodward and Whit's Mondays with the Mayor, Wichita Mayor Lily Wu said they were there to advocate for Wichita.

"For Wichita, our latest legislative agenda focused on economic development. Making sure that people know that its jobs that keep or attract people to our city," said Mayor Wu.

Another topic that arose, a bill allowing municipalities to exempt groceries from local sales taxes.

"If the sales tax passes, we would have an exemption for taxes on groceries. And that is one of the items we advocated for in Topeka."
