At Tuesday's meeting the Wichita City Council will consider improvements to 28 miles of high-risk water pipes. They're the kind that failed in north Wichita two years ago, resulting in a "boil water" advisory for the city. Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News it will cost about $4 million to repair and replace those pipes.
The city council will also consider spending a million dollars to acquire land and design two new fire stations ... in northeast and southwest Wichita. Mayor Whipple says the city's "sprawl" means new neighborhoods and the need for close-by first responders.
The council will consider updating a policy that requires City workers to live within the city. Mayor Whipple says remote working has changed things. He says the policy hasn't been looked at since 1994.
