This week's Wichita City Council meeting will be an evening meeting. Mayor Lily Wu tells KNSS News the council will meet Thursday at 6 pm. The evening meetings are once a quarter, giving citizens who work during the day a chance to attend.

On item on the agenda Thursday is a quarterly report on the City's finances. Wu says the report will look at ARPA dollars, sent to by the federal government to local governments during the COVID pandemic. One of the projects that money pays for is Second Light, the City's homeless shelter.

The council will also look at a new ordinance giving more local control over the city's hotels and motels. Mayor Wu says there are 106 such lodgings in Wichita and each will pay $200 for a local license.

Wu commented during Mondays with the Mayor on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
