A thunderstorm packing high wind and hail rumbled through south-central Kansas and the Wichita area during afternoon drive time Tuesday. Wind gusts of more than 70 miles-per-hour were recorded, with a 74-mile-per-hour gust near Viola. Some tree damage was reported. Western Sedgwick County was especially hard-hit, with golf ball-sized hail northeast of Goddard, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.
