Emergency crews were busy Saturday morning in Wichita.

A house fire was reported a little after 6:40 a.m., just north of the KNSS studios in east Wichita, near N. Cypress and E. Hawthorne Road.

The fire was so intense that crews had to operate in defensive mode. A little before 7:30, they requested two additional engine companies for relief.

A primary and secondary search of the home found no one inside. The fire was brought under control around 8:05 a.m. There's no word on injuries at this time.

Fire units also responded to another house fire just before 8 a.m., in the 2600 block of N. Holyoke, near 25th and Hillside in north Wichita. The blaze was visible when units arrived on the scene.

A person was trapped in the structure but thankfully was rescued and treated for their injuries at the scene.

Officials have not determined a cause for either fire or released damage estimates at this time.
