In the city of Wichita this year from June 30 through July 5, the Wichita fire department responded to five fireworks-related fires, with losses estimated at $60,000.

This year, 39 Wichita residents were injured by fireworks, mostly from artillery shells and mortars.

When it came to enforcement, the fire department only issued five citations this year.

The most significant complaint day for fireworks was July 5, the day after Independence Day; that's when fireworks were supposed to end under the new city ordinance.

This year there were more than 1,000 complaint calls, down 17% from last year; more than 700 of those complaints were fireworks-related, down 7% from last year.

70% of this year's complaint calls were related to fireworks.
