The World Cup soccer tournament gets underway Thursday, and activities are gearing up across the state, including in Wichita.
Six matches in the coming days are being hosted up the road in Kansas City, and there will be nine games in Dallas as well.
Wichita is taking part in the celebrations with a Global Fan Zone to enjoy the games.
Empower is among the organizations hosting a two-day World Cup watch party Thursday & Friday.
The Global Fan Zone will have food from local entrepreneurs that Empower helps in its community kitchen, as well as a raffle to win World Cup merchandise, and a chance to win two tickets to one of the games in Kansas City.
The Global Fan Zone is free -- it takes place in downtown Wichita at Naftzger Park at Douglas & St. Francis, Thursday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; the games will be live on the big digital board.
