A 34-year-old man was killed in a crash at about 6:00 a.m. Monday on Kansas Highway 96, northwest of Maize. The collision involved a GMC van and grain truck in the median at Highway K-96 & 151st Street West.
The truck carrying grain was stopped at a sign. The GMC van was west-bound on K-96 and entered the median, hitting the semi-truck’s trailer.
The driver of the van, Joseph Clementi of Wichita, was killed in the collision; he was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol report. The driver of the semi- was a 57-year-old woman from Emporia.
Traffic on K-96 was reduced to one lane in each direction while emergency crews worked the crash scene.
