A bench trial has concluded for a man charged in connection with a shooting in Old Town. Sa’Qorea Sweeney, 25 of Wichita, was found guilty of obstructing apprehension or prosecution.

Sweeney was scheduled for a jury trial this week but waived his right to a jury trial and asked for a bench trial. After hearing the

evidence Tuesday morning, Judge Chrystal Krier found Sweeney guilty.

On August 14, Christopher Dyas Jr. shot and killed Deandre Greenley on N. Mosley in Old Town. Dyas walked up to Greenley, and fired several shots. Dyas and Sweeney left in a car driven by Sweeney.

On May 15th, Judge Jeffrey Goering sentenced Dyas to 216 months in prison after he pled guilty to second degree murder and aggravated assault.

On Tuesday, Judge Krier continued Sweeney’s bond. He is free until sentencing which is scheduled for July 25.
