Police have identified a 33-year-old man who was killed in a shooting in the south part of Wichita on Thursday night as Eric Lopez-Morales.
Shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers reported hearing gunshots in the area of Harry & Broadway. At the same time, 911 dispatchers received the report of a shooting south of the intersection.
When officers arrived, they discovered Lopez-Morales in front of the Frontier Motel with a gunshot wound to the upper torso; he died at the scene.
Police believe Lopez-Morales was involved in a physical altercation with several men in the parking lot of the motel before the shooting.
