The Wichita man who pled guilty to murdering an AutoZone employee in 2020 has been sentenced.

Lamontae Lucas, 20, was sentenced Thursday to just over twenty two years after pleading guilty one count of second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated robbery.

The shooting took place at the AutoZone near Lincoln and Oliver at around 9:00 p.m. on July 26, 2020.  Nicholas Blue, 40, was behind the counter when Lucas entered the business with the intent to rob it.  No money was taken.

Instead, Blue suffered a fatal gunshot wound before Lucas ran from the store.  Blue was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surveillance video showed a man wearing a dark-colored hoodie, blue pants, a face mask, and a surgical glove enter the business, shoot Blue, and run out of the store.
Witnesses told investigators that the man run across Oliver, and drove off in an early-2010s Kia Soul.

An investigation identified Lucas as a suspect, and he was arrested a short time later.
