In the killing of her baby daughter, a 27-year-old Wichita mother has been charged with first-degree murder.
Neriah Dilley appeared in court for the first time on Thursday, where she was charged with felony child abuse. She is still being held in jail on a $250,000 bond.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of South Mission, near Lincoln and Woodlawn, on Saturday afternoon after receiving a report of an infant who was not breathing. When they arrived, they discovered Dilley's 1-year-old daughter, My'onna Townley, in critical condition.
Dilley is accused of torturing or brutally abusing her daughter, according to a criminal complaint. If she is released on bail, she is not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18 unless accompanied by a competent adult.
Dilley's next court date was scheduled for October 28.
