Man shot & killed in downtown Wichita; suspect arrested for murder

A man has been arrested in connection with Sunday’s deadly shooting in downtown Wichita, resulting in the death of 59-year-old Stevie Lee Young.

56-year-old Kevin Buggs has been taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder; he's being held without bond.

The shooting was reported late Sunday morning near Central & Market, where police found a 59-year-old man inside his car with a gunshot wound; less than three hours later, the victim had died from his wounds at the hospital.

Investigators believe the victim had been shot north of 2nd & Topeka before arriving on N. Market.

Buggs was apprehended in the 2100 block of N. Park Place; he was last arrested four months ago on a hold for another agency, and a parole violations.

He has prior aggravated domestic battery convictions.
