Union Nurses at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis and St. Joseph in Wichita have announced plans to hold a one-day strike next month over what they claim are unsafe working condition.
Wednesday's announcement was made in a release by the National Nurses Organizing Committee, saying that around 2,000 nurses at two Wichita Ascension hospitals and one in Austin, Texas, gave notice to their employer that they will hold a one-day strike on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
According to the release, the strike will protest unsafe conditions that management has failed to remedy.
This second strike comes five months after the first-ever strike at St. Joseph and St. Francis where nurses protested similar issues.
