
Wichita police arrested two teenage boys, one 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, in connection with a disturbance and shots fired outside a West Wichita convenience store on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers were called to the convenience store at 12:33 p.m. For a reported disturbance and shots fired in the parking lot.
Investigators learned that five girls, who are students from Northwest High School went to the convenience store to purchase items from the suspects, who were known to one of the girls. After the exchange, a confrontation began between the girls and the suspects inside a bathroom. The altercation moved to the parking lot of the convenience store, where the 18-year-old boy produced a handgun and fired one round in the air to scare the females away.
The two boys fled the scene, but were located in El Dorado by Butler County Sheriff deputies and taken into custody shortly after. They were transported back to Wichita for questioning, and both were arrested.
The 18-year-old was booked on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The 17-year-old was booked for misdemeanor theft.
