The shooting occurred around 4:30 Friday morning near MacArthur and West Street. According to police, a woman called 911, crying for help. Dispatchers were able to ping the woman's phone to find her location. Police arrived and found a car with heavy damage and a women being assaulted. The male suspect saw officers, entered the driver's seat of the vehicle, and attempted to flee the scene. One WPD officer fired two rounds from a handgun. The suspect was struck twice but continued to flee the scene. Officers located the vehicle at a business in the area of K 42 and West. Officers located a 31-year-old white male with two gunshot wounds. He was hospitalized in critical condition. The female in the vehicle had a minor injury and refused medical treatment.
