Wichita Public Schools, (WPS), announced the appointment of Steven Christian as the district’s new Chief Human Resources Officer, (CHRO). He began his position in mid-November.
Christian returns to WPS after serving as Talent and Human Resources Officer for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Before his time in Cleveland, he served as WPS Employee Relations and Training Director, where he helped strengthen systems that support staff success and student achievement.
"It's a joy to return to WPS and to contribute to our Future Ready progress. Everyone on our staff contributes to student success,” Christian said. “I am looking forward to advancing WPS as a thriving workplace and partnering toward the successes of our students."
“We welcome Steven back to Wichita Public Schools as our new Chief Human Resources Officer. Our people are the heart of our mission, and Steven’s leadership will help us continue attracting, developing and retaining the best team possible to ensure every student is Future Ready,” said Superintendent Kelly Bielefeld.
As CHRO, Christian oversees all aspects of the district's Human Resources Division, including Employee Relations, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Guest Staff and Human Resources Information Management Systems.
