Severe thunderstorms came through south-central Kansas on Monday night, activating Operation StormWatch on 98.7 and 1330 KNSS.

Two-inch hail (the size of hen eggs) was reported in the Inman area in McPherson County. Ping pong ball-sized hail fell in the Hutchinson area; and there was golf ball-sized hail in Sumner County.

High winds came with the storms. Winds reached 70 miles per hour near Garden Plain, near Winfield, and in Reno County; 69 miles per hour near North Newton, and there were 67 miles per hour wind gusts north of Arkansas City.

With the heavy rains, street-flooding occurred in Hutchinson, and Augusta.

In Wichita, Harry Street was shut down because of high water between Seneca & McLean Blvd.

Power lines were down in Newton, and large tree limbs came down in the Hutchinson area, in North Newton, and in Winfield.

Some areas in the north part of Wichita received more than two inches of rain.
