The Wichita City Council approved the over-naming of east Rockhill Lane to "Sol Kohn Lane", in honor of former Mayor Solomon H. Kohn. Mr. Kohn was a Jewish immigrant who helped sign the town charter in 1868 and served 5 months as Mayor in 1879.

Michael Davis, Rabbi at Congregation Emanu-El, said Kohn was a clothing store owner who helped bring the first railroad to the city and established the Wichita Savings Bank. Davis added that Kohn's life was typical of a Jewish person at that time, fleeing persecution and coming to America to work hard and be part of a growing nation.

Three street signs will go up, at Woodlawn and eastward, which will cost the city less than $1000.
