The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has arrested Markel Henderson. 20,
of Wichita on charges of aggravated assault (x4), criminal threat (x4), and battery in reference to a domestic violence incident that took place Sunday evening in the 7000 block of W. Freeman.
At approximately 5:18 p.m. on Sunday, WPD officers were sent to the 7000 block of West Freeman for a domestic violence disturbance with a weapon. A 911 caller reported a man, identified as Henderson, who was inside a home on Freeman and threatened multiple people with a firearm. The 911 caller and another person reported leaving the house, but Henderson was still inside.
Officers responded to the home and established a perimeter as the WPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was assembled. Officers were able to make contact with the suspect, who exited the home and was taken into custody shortly before 8:00 p.m.
Henderson was transported to the Sedgwick County Jail and booked on the above-
mentioned charges. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office.
