A fight led to a lock down Friday at Wichita West High School. It happened on the same day the school began using new screening devices to detect weapons.

A school spokesperson says the fight broke out over the noon hour, and additional students attempted to join in. It's not known the exact number of students who were involved.
The lockdown was called for by the principal in an attempt to keep other students away from the fights.
While several parents and students said they were upset by the use of the new screening devices, officials stated that it doesn't appear to have had anything to do with Friday's disturbance.
School officials said that major consequences will be applied to those students involved with the disruption of the normal operation of the school day.
