A Wichita woman has been sentenced to probation in the death of her daughter, 5, last year. Nory Lam pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence in the January 2021 crash. A judge sentenced her to three years’ probation.

In exchange for Lam’s guilty plea in January, prosecutors agreed to recommend probation. They pointed to her acceptance of responsibility, her engagement with therapy and treatment, and her suffering as a great consequence due to her actions.
If Lam violates probation, she could face prison time, which would range from 38 to 43 months.
