The installation of signs and new parking equipment begins this week in downtown Wichita, prior to the city's new parking plan starting up next Tuesday.
Twenty five pay stations will be installed. Existing meters will be removed and new meters put in their place.
Beginning July 1, it will cost $1 per hour to park in public areas of the downtown. The city says if you download the city's parking app during the month of July and buy an hour of parking, you'll get another hour for free.
