Police have arrested 22-year-old Jecarlos Kemp of Wichita on a charge of felony hit and run, stemming from a vehicle-vs.-pedestrian collision that killed 70-year-old Nancy McDonough-Harmening from Wichita.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the intersection of Roosevelt & Douglas for an injury hit-and-run collision near Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Officers located the victim laying in the street unresponsive and being given aid by multiple witnesses. The victim was hospitalized, where she was later pronounced deceased by medical staff.

Investigators learned the victim was crossing Douglas from the south side of Roosevelt towards the north, when she was struck by a white Mercury Grand Marquis traveling west-bound on Douglas. The driver of the car did not stop.

The suspect returned to the scene approximately 20 minutes after the incident and was arrested.

This is the 16th fatality accident worked by Wichita police this year.
