One person is dead after they were struck by a train, at a crossing in south Wichita. It happened shortly before 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wassall and Madison, near K-15 and I-135.
Police say a woman died after stepping on the tracks in the path of a train. Emergency responders arrived, and found the woman deceased at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine what led up to the accident. They noted that there is not a walking path, or an intersection where the woman stepped on the tracks.
The accident remains under investigation.
