
An Oklahoma woman was killed in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike in Sumner County Sunday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol it happened just before 6 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35.
A vehicle driven by a 45-year-old Iowa man was northbound in the southbound lanes. That vehicle struck a southbound SUV driven by 36-year-old Colby Choate of Marshall, Oklahoma. The SUV rolled and was struck by a third vehicle and a semi truck.
Choate was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 3rd vehicle was taken to Wesley Hospital with serious injuries. The wrong way driver and the driver of the semi were not injured.
The southbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed for several hours.
