Wichita Police investigating two fatal shootings, both happening on Wednesday. Around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, officers responded to the first shooting near Lincoln and George Washington Blvd. Officers arrived and found 2-men; a 44-year-old man who died from multiple gunshot wounds, and a 70-year-old man who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The 70-year-old man underwent surgery and is expected to survive. Investigators believe the two men shot each other. The investigation is ongoing.
Around 8:30 Wednesday evening officers found a car at 29th and Broadway which had been hit by gunfire. A short time later a man was treated for minor injuries at St. Francis Hospital. Meanwhile, officers were called to 17th and Santa Fe, to the report of shots fired. Another vehicle with bullet damage was found there, and once again a call came in about a shooting victim at St. Francis. This time, the female victim was pronounced dead. Investigators say the two victims were dating. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
