A U-Haul box truck was driving in the wrong lanes of traffic along Kellogg in the west part of Wichita after 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police officers initially attempted to stop the truck, but it got away.
Then, for the next couple of hours, the box truck was reported several times spotted driving the wrong way on Kellogg, and West Street, and frontage roads, and other major streets in W. Wichita and downtown. Officers did not pursue nor chase the truck.
Finally, a west-side patrol officer was able to use spike strips to disable the vehicle; the driver then ran from the scene.
Police also used drones as part of the effort to track down the wrong-way vehicle.
