An early morning crash southeast of Wichita has claimed the life of a 5-year-old girl.
It happened just before 3:15 Sunday morning, at 47th Street South and 127th Street East.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department said the vehicle was traveling westbound on 47th, just to the west of 127th when for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway.
A 5-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver, a woman in her mid-20s, refused treatment by EMS. Authorities say alcohol may be involved in the crash.
An accident reconstruction team was on scene doing a detailed investigation.
