A lockdown at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C. has now been lifted and a suspect detained following reports of a potentially armed man on post.
“Authorities have responded to the scene, and the threat of an armed individual on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling has been cleared.” the installation’s most recent Facebook post reads.
According to the post, the suspect was detained and will be transferred to Metropolitan Police Department custody. First responders are continuing to assess the situation, according to the post.
“Be on the lookout for *ONE* individual on base,” an earlier post from JBAB read. “Continue to shelter in place.”
According to that post, the individual in question is a black male, medium build with dreads that are mid-back in length.
The suspect was reportedly wearing blue or green pants and a white tank top (possibly with a bag).
An earlier post said that the last known location of the individual was on the south side of the installation near Blanchard Barracks.
“If you encounter the individual and have a safe route, RUN. If you do not have a safe route to run, HIDE. Barricade your door, turn off the lights and your cell phone ringer, and remain silent. If you are hiding, prepare to FIGHT,” that post read.
