A 17-year-old boy has been taken into custody in connection to the stabbing of his twin sister in a town just outside of Houston on Wednesday, according to authorities.
According to the Harris County Sheriff, Ed Gonzalez, the 17-year-old girl was pronounced dead on the scene.
"The possible suspect, also 17, is believed to be the female's twin sibling. The male is detained," Gonzalez said in his statement.
The sheriff's statement said that the boy ended up calling 911 at 4:45 a.m. When the deputies arrived on the scene, they found the boy giving his sister CPR.
The boy is now in custody but was still being questioned and not arrested on Wednesday afternoon, Deputy Thomas Gilliland said, NBC News reported.
Gilliland shared that he'd never encountered a murder with the suspect being the victim's twin after 25 years on the force.
"I don't ever remember going out on something like this," Gilliland told NBC News. "You have brother and sisters, but twins have that bond. So this is very different."
