Tyson Foods announced this weekend that it would be voluntarily recalling nearly 30,000 pounds of dino-shaped chicken nuggets after it received consumer reports that small metal pieces were in the chicken.

The recall is for the 29-ounce plastic bag packages that contain frozen, “fully cooked fun nuggets breaded shaped chicken patties,” according to the recall notice posted by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The affected bags have a best-if-used-by date of Sept. 4, 2024. They were sold in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The USDA shared that there has been “one minor oral injury” as a result of consuming the nuggets, but no other reports of injury have been received by the department.

Officials at the agency said consumers may still have bags of the nuggets in their freezer, and anyone who does should throw them out or return them immediately.

Tyson advised consumers to cut the UPC and date code from the package and call or text 1-855-382-3101.
