A new survey examining who Democrats would support in the 2024 election has found that anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is polling around 10%.
The results are from a recent Morning Consult Survey, which was conducted shortly after Kennedy launched his campaign.
In the Democratic party, the only other official campaign to be announced is Kennedy's fellow Democrat Marianne Williamson.
Respondents were asked to choose between Kennedy, Williamson, and President Joe Biden on who they would vote for if the Democratic presidential primary was held in their state.
While the poll showed Biden had the majority of support, 70%, he has yet to officially announce his 2024 campaign, despite hinting at doing so earlier this year.
Kennedy is the nephew of former president John F. Kennedy, and while he still appears to have some sway among Democrats, he has often been criticized for his views, most notably his anti-vaccination beliefs.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous sound bites of Kennedy criticizing vaccines circulated, as the former environmental lawyer went as far as to compare COVID-19 regulations to the Holocaust.
Most recently, Kennedy has taken aim at Biden’s work on US foreign policy, taking to Twitter to share his thoughts on the president’s failures.
In his tweet, Kennedy attests that the country’s efforts in “in Iraq and Ukraine have cost $8.1 trillion, hollowed out our middle class, made a laughingstock of U.S. military power and moral authority, pushed China and Russia into an invincible alliance, destroyed the dollar as the global currency, cost millions of lives and done nothing to advance democracy or win friendships or influence.”
Overall the poll found that among Democratic voters, 46% hold a favorable view of Kennedy, while 24% hold an unfavorable view of him, and 23% had not heard of or had no opinion of him.
