A female employee of an Arby’s restaurant in New Iberia, La., was discovered in the fast food restaurant’s freezer Thursday evening, according to the New Iberia Police Department.

It was around 6:20 p.m. when authorities received the report of a dead body found in the freezer of the 1120 East Admiral Doyle Drive location.

Officers and Acadian Ambulance were dispatched to the scene, said police. When first responders arrived, they found the woman inside a walk-in freezer “showing no signs of life.”

According to KLFY, the woman was a manager at the Arby’s restaurant.

In addition to police, the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office responded to the scene where it pronounced the female deceased. While she has been identified as an employee of the restaurant, the identity of the female “will not be released at this time,” police said Friday.

“This matter remains under investigation and no foul play is suspected at this time,” the department added. “Due to this being an ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time.”

This isn’t the first time a body has been found in a commercial freezer. In 2017, the body of 19-year-old Kenneka Jenkins was found in a freezer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Rosemont, Ill., just outside of Chicago.

“Over the years there have been many deaths of people who have been locked inside a freezer,” said the Journal & Topics. “They normally die of extreme cold, inhaling lethal fumes or of suffocation.”
