An avian flu epidemic is quickly spreading across the United States, and it seems to be affecting even the most majestic and patriotic flocks the country has to offer.

At least three bald eagles have been found dead in Georgia after they became infected with the bird flu, according to Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources.

So far, the U.S. Agriculture Department says the highly contagious sickness has been detected in 25 different states, and it has made its way to bald eagle communities in Maine, Ohio, South Dakota, and Vermont in addition to Georgia.

Between birds killed directly by the disease and those being culled to stop the spread, more than 20 million have met their demise.

The outbreak is the worst since 2015.
