Oops, he did it again.
President Joe Biden appeared to get his popstars mixed up on Monday while participating in the annual turkey pardoning ceremony at the White House.
The president pardoned two turkeys at the event, Liberty and Bell, while also delivering a speech to those present.
During the speech, it appeared that Biden confused Britney Spears for Taylor Swift.
“Just to get here, Liberty and Bell had to beat some tough odds and competition. They had to work hard, to show patience, and be willing to travel over 1,000 miles,” Biden said during the ceremony. “You could say it’s even harder than getting a ticket to the Renaissance tour or, or Britney’s tour. She’s down, it’s kind of warm in Brazil right now.”
Spears is not currently on tour at the moment, but Swift is performing shows in South America, with her latest being Sunday night in Brazil.
Swift was forced to postpone her Saturday show in Rio de Janeiro because of the extreme heat in the country, which led to the death of one fan.
The president, who turned 81 on Monday, is no stranger to slip-ups. As the oldest president in the history of the United States, Biden is often criticized for his cognitive abilities, especially after confusing remarks or actions.
For some perspective, the 34 men who preceded Biden in office died before turning 81, according to POTUS.com.
This year’s turkey pardoning marked the 76th anniversary of the event, and Biden, in his remarks, even cracked a joke about his age.
“I want you to know. I wasn’t there at the first one,” Biden said.
With the 2024 election less than a year away, it appears that Biden will be the Democratic nominee, and if re-elected, he would be 86 at the end of his second term.
