During an interview released on Wednesday night, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson asked former President Donald Trump if he was worried about someone trying to have him killed.

The interview aired on Carlson’s X account, where he has taken to releasing his content following his departure from Fox News.

During the interview released at the same time as the first 2024 GOP presidential debate, Trump and Carlson discussed several points, but most notably, whether or not the former president is afraid for his life.

“It started with protests against you, and then it moved to impeachment twice and now indictment,” Carlson told Trump. “Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you? Why wouldn’t they try and kill you? Honestly.”

“They’re savage animals; they’re people that are sick,” Trump responded.

He continued saying that people in this country don’t get credit for “how smart they are,” noting that the indictments he’s facing are “bullsh**.”

Trump is still under the protection of Secret Security, something granted to all former presidents.

The current frontrunner for the 2024 GOP nominee decided to skip the debate stage in Milwaukee, instead being interviewed by Carlson.

Trump is also set to turn himself into the authorities in Fulton County, Georgia, today following his fourth indictment over his efforts to try and overturn the election results in the state.

While talking with Carlson, who was fired from Fox News earlier this year, Trump shared that his departure from the network wasn’t right.

“I think it was a terrible move getting rid of you,” Trump told the former host. “You’re No. 1 on television, and all of a sudden, we’re doing this interview, but we’ll get bigger ratings doing this crazy forum that you’re using than probably the debate.”

When it comes to his Republican opponents, Trump shared his harshest criticisms for former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who has been going at the former president in recent weeks.

“He runs solely on the basis of ‘Let’s get Trump,’” the former president said. “He’s like a savage maniac. He’s like a lunatic. And that’s all he talks about. His poll numbers are very, very low.”

As for President Joe Biden, Trump said he was a “Manchurian candidate” and that he’d love to run against him again.

“I think he is the most corrupt president we’ve ever had, and he also has the distinction of being the most incompetent,” Trump said
