People in the Bay Area are ticked off at the owner of a Tesla Cybertruck who was recently seen dumping trash in a local park.
In Oakland, Calif., KCBS Radio’s Matt Bigler reported from 24th Street near Raimondi Park, which has become an unfortunate dumping ground for trash and debris. Bigler said there are piles and piles of illegally dumped garbage in the area, some as high as fences.
A man named Troy was described as one of the nearby residents who was outraged when he saw that a man driving a Cybertruck was one of the people dumping debris in the area. A photo of the man dumping construction debris was posted on the official Oakland Facebook page on May 9.
“If you see someone dumping their trash on our streets, report it to OAK311,” said the post. “Got a license plate number, video, or photo like the one below? Send it in! That info helps our Environmental Enforcement team track down dumpers and hold them accountable. You can report anonymously, or testify as a witness to help us make sure justice is served.”
“It’s weird to see from that type of person that that’s… who’s choosing to illegally dump, you know? Someone who comes from means,” said Troy. Per the Tesla website, Cybertruck prices start at $62,490 after a $7,500 federal tax credit.
These electric vehicles been a point of controversy recently as Tesla CEO Elon Musk became a close ally and then advisor to President Donald Trump.
Last June, Audacy reported that police in Florida were on the lookout for a group of vandals wanted for spray painting 34 new Cybertrucks “F**k Elon.” Earlier this year, a Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas prompted an investigation, according to another Audacy report.
In Oakland, Bigler reported that city officials have said they identified the Cybertruck dumper. He also reported that the fine for illegal dumping in Oakland is $750 for a first-time offense. The city has also reminded residents
