Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday advocated for the elimination of the taxes senior citizens pay on Social Security income.
“SENIORS SHOULD NOT PAY TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY!” said Trump on Truth Social.
Social Security taxation began in 1983 to ensure the program's trust fund's sustainability.
There is a tax of up to 50% tax on one’s Social Security benefits if total income is between 25,000 and $34,000 – and up to an 85% tax on benefits when income is over $34,000, according to the Social Security Administration.
