FDA recalls soda over ‘possible foreign material’

More than 2,000 cases of Diet Coke, Sprite, and Fanta Orange have been recalled by Coca-Cola in three states for the possibility of the cans containing “foreign material.”

The recall from Coca-Cola was shared in a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

According to the notice, the recall began on Nov. 6 and was initiated by United Packers, LLC, based in Mobile, Alabama.

Affected cases were sold at stores in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, the FDA shared. The product was exclusively 12-packs of 12-oz. aluminum cans.

The FDA noted that 1,557 cases of Sprite with a UPC of 49000028928 and a best-by date of 07/29/24; 417 cases of Diet Coke with a UPC of 49000028911 and best by date of 01/29/24; and 14 cases of Fanta Orange with a UPC of 49000030730 and best by date of 07/29/24 have been affected in the recall.

No other products are expected to be recalled at this time.
