Automotive aid company AAA is hoping to help keep the roads clear of impaired drivers this holiday season by once again activating its annual Tow to Go program.
Tuesday night at 6 p.m., the program goes live and will operate until Thursday, January 2, 2025.
“If you’re faced with the decision of driving impaired, put down those keys and pick up the phone to call Tow to Go,” AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland said in a release. “AAA will then send a truck to take you and your vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.”
AAA does urge drivers to plan for a safe and secure ride home, either with a designated driver or a rideshare or taxi service, if they plan to imbibe and to treat Tow to Go as a last resort.
Service technicians at AAA anticipate over 860,000 calls from drivers with car trouble over the next week.
The Tow to Go service will be available in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Colorado (Denver), North Carolina (Charlotte) and Indiana (Fort Wayne/South Bend).
Tow to Go is accessible to both AAA members and non-members in participating locations. Appointments may not be scheduled in advance, and the service is good for relocating one person and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.
