STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A garbage truck smashed into the side of a building in metro Detroit on Wednesday morning and revealed something unexpected.
The situation happened on Mound near 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights when the driver of the truck says he was cutoff by another vehicle while heading southbound.
He then crossed the northbound lanes of Mound before smashing into a building, and unveiling what appeared to be an illegal marijuana grow operation, WWJ’s Charlie Langton reports.
Sterling Heights police found at least 45 full-grown marijuana plants inside of the building, the owner of which says he’s been renting it to two other people.
There was also a fuel spill caused from the crash, but no injuries were reported.
Authorities say this is the 650th illegal grow operation in Sterling Heights this year.
