Following Herschel Walker’s loss in the Georgia Senate runoff race, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) shared why she thinks he lost to Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock.
Greene shared her thoughts on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, saying that she found it “extremely insulting” Walker didn’t use her more during his campaign. She said that he used her at “maybe two” events.
When Greene was asked about the impact of Walker’s loss, she called it a “disaster for Georgia.”
“This is for Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham and the rest of the Republican senators: You guys are the reasons why we are losing Republican races all over the country,” Greene said.
However, not everyone agrees with who Greene blamed for Walker’s loss. GOP leaders have pointed the finger to Donald Trump, who had two handpicked contenders lose their key races, resulting in Democrats holding a 51-49 majority in the Senate.
The two candidates in question are Walker and Pennsylvania Republican candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz.
Several polls agree with the feelings of many in the Republican party, as one Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll, taken in the days after the midterms, found that 20% of voters said Trump was the clear loser after Election Day.
The poll also found that 15% said Democrats, 14% said “MAGA Republicans,” 12% said mainstream Republicans, and 23% said they didn’t know.
The two chambers of Congress will now remain split for the next two years, as Republicans recaptured control of the House and Democrats held on in the Senate.
