Do you believe that extraterrestrial lifeforms visit earth?

Ring, a company that provides doorbell security cameras, is offering its customers a chance to prove that aliens walk among us with a Halloween mission. If someone does capture footage of an extraterrestrial on a Ring device, they could win $1 million.

This contest was announced Wednesday, and by Saturday, Ring told aspiring Mulders and Scullys to “please save your content for now,” as “our team is actively working to refuel the mothership.”

A message on the ringmilliondollarsighting.com site said that video submissions will reopen Oct. 12. Submissions are due by Nov. 3, per USA Today.

“Lure in Extraterrestrials by decorating your front porch and lawn with alien-inspired décor and impressive high-tech gear,” said Ring. “Our intergalactic neighbors are drawn to colorful lights, fascinating gadgets, and homeowners with approachable costumes complete with antennas and goggles.”

While the existence of extraterrestrial life has not yet been proven, some experts – including Harvard professor Avi Loeb – believe we are close to finding evidence. Loeb joined KRLD’s “Something Offbeat” podcast last year to discuss his research.

Late last year, senior military leaders said the Pentagon’s efforts to investigate reports of UFOs has not led to the discovery of extraterrestrial life visiting Earth. After high altitude objects where shot down by the U.S. earlier this year, the White House said they were not UFOs.

However, Congress also held a special hearing on “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena” this year, and a former military official, retired Commander David Fravor provided testimony about witnessing a mysterious craft. He was surprised how long it took for the incident to be investigated.

Just last month, Audacy reported on Jamie Maussan, a UFO researcher who said he brought what he claims are the bodies of two extraterrestrial beings to a Congressional hearing in Mexico.

“You can greet your starfarer friends by adding intergalactic Quick Replies to your Ring Video Doorbell,” said Ring of its quest to find extraterrestrial life. “With a handful of Alien and Halloween-themed messages you can pick from, your automatic Quick Reply will greet guests with an otherworldly response when they press the doorbell.”

According to the USA Today report, the contest is open only to Americans at least 18 years old. To win, entrants are required to capture “unaltered scientific evidence of a real extraterrestrial lifeform” with a Ring device.

If someone does provide this evidence, the $1 million prize would be paid to them in $50,000 increments per year for two decades. A “Space and Extraterrestrial Expert” will review all video submissions to decide if they have provided enough evidence.

“Whether it’s a video of an Extraterrestrial walking (or flying?) up your driveway and asking for directions or an unidentifiable lifeform exhibiting unusual and extraordinary behavior in your backyard—submit your best footage!” said Ring.

Once Ring is ready for submissions again, those interested can submit their footage at ringmilliondollarsighting.com.
