President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, was indicted by special counsel David Weiss on Thursday on three criminal counts related to his possession of a firearm, a court filing showed.

Biden is now being charged for the crime in the U.S. District Court in Delaware just weeks after a federal plea deal he made fell through.

The 53-year-old son of the president appeared in court in July to plead guilty to misdemeanor criminal tax charges. However, the judge had concerns about the deal that was struck between the defense and prosecutors.

U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika said during the hearing that she would not accept the deal until the prosecutors and defense addressed the questions she raised.

Biden’s attorneys had reached a separate pretrial diversion agreement with prosecutors on an unrelated firearms charge.

The White House and Biden’s attorney have not yet responded to requests for comment from multiple new sources.
